The International Business and Diplomatic Exchange and International Centre for Promotion of Enterprises has great pleasure in informing you of the first “Southeast European Business and Economic Forum: Examining the Future of PPPs in the Region” to take place on Wednesday 6 June 2012, in Tirana, Albania.

In line with the EU’s regional approach, the Forum will seek to appeal to potential investors and the wider multinational business community, maximizing the regional appeal of Southeast Europe as a whole and encouraging further regional cooperation. The Forum aims to produce a greater focus on the promotion and enhancement of public private partnerships (PPPs) together with effective management of public sector enterprises in the SEE/Balkans. The Forum also hopes to promote the region’s FDI and overall business environment while boosting the profile of EU business interests and expertise.

The Forum will have four distinct Sessions, during which we will have Speakers ranging from the governments of the Western Balkans plus Slovenia and Turkey, to European industry leaders operating in the region or interested to invest in Southeast Europe. The Economic and Finance Ministers of participating countries will be invited to attend and contribute to the Conference.

This high level, targeted event, with speakers including senior minister of Southeast European governments and international business leaders, will aim to:

• Bring together a wide range of Southeast Europe and EU officials, business leaders and economists from participating countries and institutions, with experts from academia

• Analyse business best practice and effective management of public companies

• Promote PPP opportunities in infrastructure: i.e. energy, transportation, tourism, technology, construction, environment, agricultural sectors, education, and other relevant business services industry

• Produce tangible intellectual outputs e.g. a report that could serve as a basis for future discussion and informed policymaking on PPPs as well as laying the foundations for an Action Plan for business, governments and other stakeholders

The audience of the Forum will include some 200 most senior business representatives. It is expected that this would be the most significant promotion to date of the PPP potentials in Southeast Europe and the overall regional efforts to attract more FDI.
