On 16 January 2014, IBDE organised The European Energy Forum, kindly hosted by the European Centre for Energy and Resource Security (EUCERS) at Great Hall, King’s College London. The Forum explored some of the key challenges facing the future of European energy security and infrastructure as well as the business and investment opportunities in this sector.

The First Transatlantic Trade & Investment Partnership Forum - London, 12 December 2013
On 12 Dec 2012, IBDE organised the First Transatlantic Trade & Investment Partnership Forum – Exploring Benefits and Pitfalls of the EU-US Trade Agreement. The Forum was kindly hosted by the European Commission Representation in the UK.
The Forum was a great success. It assembled some excellent speakers and around 130 delegates from across the industries, embassies, government agencies, academia, and civil society, to discuss the benefits and pitfalls of TTIP and what this proposed major trade agreement would mean for the US and EU economies (the UK included). IBDE is pleased to be working with industry practitioners, policymakers and other stakeholders and will strive to make its modest contribution to this debate.

3rd International Banking and Finance Forum - London, 19 November 2014
On 19 November 2013 IBDE organised its 3rd International Banking and Finance Forum – Restoring Confidence in Financial Services, kindly hosted by Clifford Chance. The forum provided an opportunity to explore the progress made and challenges remaining in order to restore trust and confidence in the industry as well as to discuss the importance of achieving sensible regulatory reforms in the financial services to ensure that the confidence in banking and finance sector lending will be restored in support of the much needed economic growth.
The forum assembled some excellent speakers including the Minister of Finance of Lithuania and over 200 delegates from across the financial industry, government agencies, academia, and civil society to provide constructive informed input on the banking reforms in the quest for improving conduct and standards - key to restoring confidence and trust in financial services. IBDE in partnership with industry practitioners, policymakers, regulators and other stakeholders will strive to make its modest contribution to this process.

The Rt. Hon. The Lord Mayor Alderman Roger Gifford and the Chief Executive of IBDE, Rudi Guraziu hosted a High-Level Roundtable Meeting on “Financing the recovery: the impact of financial regulation on long-term investment” on 31 October at the Mansion House, in London.
In the second of a series of "the City - London Embassies Meetings", senior business leaders from the financial industry and senior diplomats converged to discuss the impact of financial regulation on long term investment and the improvements that could be implemented into this infrastructure.

The Rt. Hon. The Lord Mayor Alderman Roger Gifford and the Chief Executive of IBDE, Rudi Guraziu hosted a High-Level Meeting on “inward investment and access to finance: challenges to recovery” on 15 October at the Mansion House, in London. The meeting was attended by heads of mission and other senior representatives of EU and business leaders.
Mark Tilden, Partner and Head of UK Practice, Ares & Co provided an excellent presentation on Alternative Finance for SMEs and Mid-Market Companies - a Report commissioned by TheCityUK.
